چکیده

Medicine, BIDMC/Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts, USA Full list of author information is available at the end of the article Figure 1 DICE similarity coefficients obtained with and without the proposed motion correction approach in pre (5-3 scheme) and post contrast (4-3-2 scheme) T1w image series. Average DICE coefficients over each T1w image series (left column), and over each individual T1-weighted image (right column) are shown. Similar DICE coefficients were observed before and after motion correction in T1w image series with high pre-registration coefficients (~0.9). Substantial improvements in DICE coefficient values were achieved in T1w image series with low pre-registration coefficients (< 0.9). Roujol et al. Motion correction using hierarchical local affine registration improves image quality and myocardial scar characterisation from T1 maps acquired with MOLLI

Background T1 mapping enables true quantitative assessment of myocardial tissue, separating scars and healthy myocardium. The modified Look-Locker inversion recovery (MOLLI) sequence acquires eleven images over the duration of a minimum of fifteen heart beats to obtain the final T1 map, which is susceptible to undesired respiratory motion due to a relatively long breath-hold. We aimed to implem...

Improved motion correction using image registration based on variational synthetic image estimation: application to inline t1 mapping of myocardium

Introduction Myocardial T1 mapping has potential to quantify structural and pathological changes without use of contrast agent. Recently Modified Look-Locker Inversion Recovery (MOLLI) sequence has proven effective on cardiac T1 mapping [1]. Its clinical applicability is still limited by myocardial motion between frames mainly due to beat to beat variations and respiration. This undesired motio...

Myocardial T1 and T2 mappings with automatic motion correction at 3 Tesla MR: comparison of T1 and T2 measurements by breathhold, free-breathing and cardiac cycle

Methods Myocardial T1 and T2 mapping at 3 Tesla MR was obtained from 24 healthy volunteers (16 males and 8 females, mean age, 31±4 years). Shortened modified looklocker inversion recovery was used for T1 mapping and T2-prepared single-shot steady-state free precession was utilized for T2 mapping. Automatic motion correction was done by an elastic registration algorithm based on estimating motio...

Motion correction for myocardial T1 mapping using image registration with synthetic image estimation.

Quantification of myocardial T1 relaxation has potential value in the diagnosis of both ischemic and nonischemic cardiomyopathies. Image acquisition using the modified Look-Locker inversion recovery technique is clinically feasible for T1 mapping. However, respiratory motion limits its applicability and degrades the accuracy of T1 estimation. The robust registration of acquired inversion recove...
